Utility Integration of Distributed Photovoltaic Systems: An Analysis of Legal and Regulatory Issues Abstract of a paper by John P. Dwyer and Thomas A. Starrs.
Utility Solar Load Carrying Capacity As a Function of Summer/Winter Peak Load Ratios Calculating straight solar insolation values [sunshine levels] may be deceptive in determining the value of solar resources, especially from an electric utility standpoint. Such calculations ignore the capacity value from PV. Work supported by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory has shown that high levels of solar insolation are not a necessary condition for finding good photovoltaic sites.
