Centre for Energy Policy - Energy Russia and CIS This site is dedicated to information on all aspects of energy policy, energy efficiency, energy security, energy supply forecasting, efficiency technology, alternative fuels, renewable energy, DSM, marketing of energy efficiency products and services, as well as all means to finance energy efficiency in Russia with the help of national or international banks or institutions.
Clean Cities Clean Cities is a locally-based government/industry partnership, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to expand the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel. By combining local decision-making with the voluntary action of partners, the "grass-roots" approach of Clean Cities departs from traditional "top-down" Federal programs. It creates and carries out an effective plan at the local level for establishing a sustainable, nationwide alternative fuels market.
Coal Burning or Solar Electricity Most electric utilities burn coal. If we burned coal in our backyards to generate our electricity, we would soon understand how filthy coal is. If we were coal miners or if we lived next to a coal mine or power plant, we would yearn for alternatives. We tolerate coal because we do not personally confront it and because it is so cheap. Its apparent cheapness makes us wasteful and extravagant about how we demand it.

Community Planning On-line B.C.'s first Community Energy Planning Network. Energy plays an integral role in all our communities. Decisions made at the local community level often have a profound effect on energy supply and efficiency characteristics. In recent years a growing number of of regions and urban centres across North America have engaged in the principles of community energy planning (CEP) as tools in addressing a wide variety of complex urban environmental and social problems.
Comprehensive National Energy Strategy The Comprehensive National Energy Strategy (1.4mb) may be downloaded and viewed using Adobe Acrobat. Sections of the Comprehensive National Energy Strategy Acrobat format are also provided here for your convenience.
Critical Mass Project Fantastic resource for sustainable energy activists, containing background literature, congressional testimony, fact sheets, and publication lists for a variety of energy related topics, as well as chronicles of current energy-related legislative events.
District Energy Information on district heating, cooling, and cogeneration. District Energy refers to the production and distribution of energy using one or more of the following technologies: (a) Cogeneration or Combined Heat and Power - The simultaneous production of heat; (b) District Heating - The distribution of heat from one or more sources to multiple buildings;(c) District Cooling - The distribution of cooling from one or more sources to multiple buildings; and (d) Energy Storage - The storage of thermal or electric energy.
DOE Information Bridge DOE offers the American Public this new web tool through GPO Access, a service of the Government Printing Office (GPO). The DOE Information Bridge, a component of DOEs EnergyFiles, provides free, convenient, and quick access to full-text DOE research and development reports in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics.
DoN Energy Website The Department of the Navy's Energy Program goals are to reduce the cost of utilities and the amount of energy consumed. Since 1985, the program produced a cost avoidance of over $200 million, and reduced energy consumption by 19%. During FY95, the Department of Defense provided $50.6 million for energy project investment. These projects yield an annual cost avoidance of $12.4 million, providing a 4 year average payback on the investment.

Energy and Regulatory Matters Information Service A free, international electronic mail and information service covering energy and regulatory matters.
Energy Design Tools Energy Design Tools are fast, easy to use, and highly graphic. Each has a built-in demonstration. SOLAR-5 also includes a tutorial and prints its own Users Manual. Each program has an INSTALL routine and a READ.ME file explaining how to use it. They run on microcomputers with DOS 3.1 or higher unless stated otherwise. Macintosh users can run then successfully using utilities like SoftPC or SoftWindows from Insignia Solutions.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Database This bibliographic database is a subset of the Energy Science and Technology Database (EDB) created and maintained by the Department of Energy, Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI). The database contains all unlimited, unclassified scientific and technical information relating to energy efficiency and renewable energy topics processed at OSTI that is DOE sponsored or published in the United States.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network (EREN) A U. S. Department of Energy World Wide Web site that provides access to information about renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.
Energy Ideas Energy Ideas is an approximately monthly report dedicated to encouraging the use of energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies in US government institutions. This page gives tables of contents and links to the reports, accurate up to December 1993, and a link to the Imperial College archive for access to newer reports.
Energy Ideas Clearinghouse (EIC) Established in 1990, the Energy Ideas Clearinghouse provides fast, centralized access to comprehensive and objective energy information, education, resources, and technical assistance for increasing energy efficiency in the commercial and industrial sectors. Clients include utilities, their industrial and commercial customers, engineers, facility owners and operators, consultants, residential building and service professionals, and other energy professionals. Up-to-date information on products and technologies; national, state, and local programs; and the environmental aspects of energy use is available at the Clearinghouse.
Energy Information Agency (EIA) EIA's home page.
Energy Information on the Internet (EII) Database The Energy Information on Internet (EII) database comprises 259 energy-related information sources that can be accessed through Internet. EII is started and will be maintained by Netherlands Energy Research Foundation (ECN). The sources of the EII database are described and characterized in a special format. This format consists of the title of the homepage, data to localize the homepage, data to search the database, characteristics of the type of information, and a general description. For `organization' one can also read institute, company, etc.
