Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) Home Page Helping electric vehicles become a reality is the mission of the Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC), the international consortium of lead-acid battery companies and supporting industries. Committed to develop advanced lead-acid batteries for the specific application of electric vehicles, ALABC research and development will focus on ways to improve energy, power and life in lead-acid battery design. ALABC plans for advanced systems include monitoring and controls, thermal management, rapid recharging and battery configuration - all essential to optimum battery performance and life - all of which are also critical to meet the needs of the electric vehicle market.

Ballard Power Systems Imagine a future where power is generated cleanly and efficiently. Where buses and automobiles give us the performance we want but emit no pollution to foul the air. Where environmentally damaging central power plants and high voltage transmission lines are a memory of the past. This is the future, powered by Ballard Fuel Cells. A future which is closer than you imagine.

Batteries Here is a list of rechargeable battery technologies. Links, Pros, and Cons are (or will be) listed with each technology.

Batteries for Electric Vehicles: Lead Acid or Nickel-Cadmium Electric vehicles show an interesting solution when it comes to combating air pollution in cities, as they do not give off any direct pollution into the environment. However, debates about their merits are centred on two points: the primary energy source and the heavy metals used in the manufacture of their batteries. A global environmental impact study has made it possible to gain a better knowledge about the complete life cycle of the batteries from manufacture to end-of-life processing.

Battery Information An extensive listing of links to information about various battery types.

Battery Technology Comparisons Electric vehicles and home power systems have batteries in  common. Whether it's going down the road, or lights at night, the battery is where the energy is stored. It would be nice to recommend the ideal battery, but there isn't one. What we have instead is a confusing array of dissimilar choices. Here's a quick graphical look at how today's battery technologies stack up.

Battery Testing For Photovoltaic Applications Battery testing for photovoltaic (PV) applications is funded at Sandia under the Department of Energy's (DOE) Photovoltaic Balance of Systems (BOS) Program. The goal of the PV BOS program is to improve PV system component design, operation, reliability, and to reduce overall life-cycle costs. The Sandia battery testing program consists of: 1) PV battery and charge controller market survey, 2) battery performance and life-cycle testing, 3) PV charge controller development, and 4) system field testing. Test results from this work have identified market size and trends, PV battery test procedures, application guidelines, and needed hardware improvements.  Much of this information is also relevant to EVs.

Best/Sierra Battery LLC The only China based battery manufacturer that uses Pasminco lead from Australia. B & B batteries are UL approved and are produced under the strict control of the ISO 9002 certification. The manufacturer of the B & B Battery is a 2.2 billion dollar per year conglomerate that produces over 6 million batteries per year.

Beyond Batteries Here come fuel cells--the ultimate clean machines for generating electricity. Fuel cells sound like a science-fiction fantasy: an efficient, nonpolluting power source that produces no noise and has no moving parts. But such cells not only exist, they have been providing electricity on spacecraft since the 1960s. In more down-to-earth applications, they could be used as electricity-generating plants or as a power source for nearly exhaust-free automobiles.

DAX Industries, Inc. Makers of high performance MOSFET DC motor contollers and energy management systems. Electric vehicles [EVs] have appeared throughout automotive history and are now a viable alternative to gasoline cars due to major technological advances in electric propulsion systems. Responses to pollution and ecological concerns, higher gasoline prices, and possible oil shortages has accellerated EV research. Their DC motor contollers efficiently distribute energy from the battery to the motor. When the batteries require recharging, the vehicle can be plugged into any standard wall outlet. EV's can be charged overnight or opportunity-charged after short trips.

DC Battery Specialists Worldwide warehouse distributor for wholesale domestic and export batteries.
