The Handbook For A Better Future The "Handbook for a Better Future " is a collection of important works by the leading scientists and professionals on the topic of environmental education and action. It is designed to be comprehensive yet not overly long. Basically a one-stop guide to individual action towards a better future.

The Rainforest Action Network The Rainforest Action Network works to protect the Earth's rainforests and support the rights of their inhabitants through education, grassroots organizing, and non-violent direct action.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District The South Coast AQMD is the smog control agency for all or portions of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, California, where 14 million people breathe the worst air quality in the US. The South Coast Air Quality Management District, by law, is required to achieve and maintain healthful air quality for its residents. This is accomplished through a comprehensive program of planning, regulation, compliance assistance, enforcement, monitoring, technology advancement, and public education.

The Tightening Conflict: Population, Energy Use, and the Ecology of Agriculture An article by Mario Giampietro and David Pimentel.  In this paper the authors discuss the use of energy in agriculture and its relation to the performance of the economy (in part 1), and the issues of future development, standards of living and a sustainable envirortment related to population pressure (in part 11).

Tiempo Climate Cyberlibrary The Tiempo Climate Cyberlibrary is an electronic information service covering global warming, climate change, sea-level rise and related issues.

Tradable Emission Permits and the Ethics of Global Atmospheric Pollution The Subject Bibliographies in Environmental Ethics are published by Timothy C. Weiskel at Harvard University to assist research in the Environmental Ethics and Public Policy Program. As part of the Center for the Study of Values in Public Life (CSVPL ) at the Harvard Divinity School, this program encourages students and faculty to examine the explicit and implicit values which guide the decisions made by governments, non-governmental groups, corporations and individuals concerning all aspects of the environment.

Traffic Pollution Related Links on the Internet An extensive collection of academic, government, quasi-government and private sector links related to vehicle-generated pollution.

Trexler and Associates, Inc. Trexler and Associates, Inc. (TAA) is an internationally recognized leader in the emerging field of identifying and implementing greenhouse gas emissions reduction and offset strategies.

UCLA Center for Clean Technology (CCT) This server provides information about a wide range of environmental research and related activities at the Center for Clean Technology (CCT) at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) UCS is citizens and scientists working together for a common goal: a healthy environment and a safe world, for today and for the next century. Over 70,000 people from all over the country--people from all walks of life--work on UCS issues in their community or support us financially--or both!

United States-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) The United States-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) is an interagency program led by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). US-AEP was established in 1992 to assist in addressing environmental degradation and sustainable development issues in Asia and the Pacific by mobilizing U.S. environmental experience, technology, and services.

Urban Environmental Management Young Planners who attended the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP)'s World Planning Congress in Ogaki, Japan from 17-20 September 1997, felt the need to continue to interact and communicate beyond the Congress and hence decided to set up a research initiative called UEMRI. The homepage is an output of the activities of UEMRI.

U.S. Competitiveness is Not at Risk in the Climate Negotiations Business groups have warned that U.S. actions to limit greenhouse gas emissions, without parallel steps by developing nations, will undermine the international competitiveness of American industry. These arguments -- that limits on U.S. emissions will drive energy-intensive industries off-shore, generate significant unemployment, and limit the ability of U.S. business to compete -- ignore important facts.

U.S. Country Studies Program Through the U.S. Country Studies Program, the U.S. Government has been providing technical and financial support to 55 developing countries and countries with economies in transition to assist them in conducting climate change studies. The studies will enable these countries to develop inventories of their anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, assess their vulnerabilities to climate change, and evaluate response strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change.

U.S. Department of Energy Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse Providing a centralized source of U.S. DOE Pollution Prevention Information and assisting with valuable P2 resources outside of the DOE.

U. S. Environmental Protection Agency Home Page A good source of environmental information.

U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) Global change research brings significant benefits to the nation and the world by providing a well-founded scientific understanding of the Earth system to ensure the availability of future resources essential for human well-being, including water, food, fiber, ecosystems, and human health. The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), working with research institutions in the U.S. and beyond our borders, provides the foundation for increasing the skill of predictions of seasonal-to-interannual climate fluctuations (which can bring excessively wet and dry periods) and long-term climate change. The USGCRP also sponsors research to understand the vulnerabilities to changes in important environmental factors, including changes in climate, ultraviolet (UV) radiation at the Earth's surface, and land cover.

Ventilation and Air Quality in Offices Millions of Americans work in buildings with mechanical heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; these systems are designed to provide air at comfortable temperature and humidity levels, free of harmful concentrations of air pollutants. While heating and air-conditioning are relatively straightforward operations, the more complex processes involved in ventilation are the most important in determining the quality of our indoor air.
